UB CAMPUS RECREATION
The UB Campus Rec goal is to be best part of your day at UB! We provide our current students, faculty, and staff with recreational, intramural and fitness opportunities that are geared to increase an individual’s overall health and well-being. UB Campus Rec programs are aimed at promoting and creating healthy lifestyle habits among the entire UB community.
Wheeler Recreation Center Hours (Fall 2023)
Monday, Wednesday and Friday: 9:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m.
Tues & Thurs 6:30am-10:00pm
Saturday & Sunday: 12 p.m.-5 p.m.

Wheeler Recreation Center Facilities
- 3 multipurpose courts for activities such as volleyball, tennis, soccer, whiffle ball, Spike Ball, cricket, basketball, etc.
- Fitness Center- (brand-new facility that opened August 2023)

Come burn off those calories with a great workout in our brand new Fitness Center space on any one of our pieces of cardio equipment. (Treadmills, Ellipticals, Stair Climber, stationary bikes, & rowers)
Pump some iron with our state of the art strength machines and free weights. We offer the following strength machines: which include shoulder press, chest press, fly/dept machine, bicep curl, leg extension, leg press, hamstring extension, seated row, leg curl, lat pull-down, bench press, cable motion dual adjustable pulley, & a multipurpose benches and squat racks Also, a part of our weight room: are fitness bars, medicine balls, stability balls, & dumbbells ranging from 5lbs to 75lbs)
Aquatics Center
The UB Pool was re-added to the UB Campus Rec fitness/wellness offerings and has made a big splash! (yup) The renovated six-lane UB Aquatics Center is open for "Lunchtime Laps" Monday-Friday from 11a-230p for our current students, staff and faculty. The facility also has a Steam Room for usage.
“The Alley”- UB Bowling Alley
The UB Bowling Center opened in 2019 and is located in the John J. Cox Student Center. It is a state of the art bowling alley with eight (8) lanes. The facility is open in the evenings for students to play. UB Campus Rec will host tournaments and events in the facility throughout the academic year. Student Clubs and Organizations can book the space for fundraisers, team building, etc by contacting David Graham at dagraham@bridgeport.edu

Fitness Programs- Fall Schedule
Yoga Monday at 5pm & 6pm/ Wed at 5pm Studio 1
This class is perfect for a new student and challenges will also be offered for the intermediate student. This class will include breathing, postures and meditation to create strength, openness and flexibility. You will leave feeling fantastic!
Spin Class Thursday at 6pm Studio 1
Need and want a GREAT sweat? Spin is a group indoor cycling class focusing on strength, speed, and endurance, with choreography designed to work and tone every muscle group in the body. For those looking for an intense cardio workout, it's definitely worth giving a Spin class a go.
UB FIT Tuesdays at 7pm Studio 1
UB Fit is a HIIT(high intensity interval training) style class. This class is for all experience levels. All areas of fitness will be trained including cardio, general strength, power, agility and mobility. This class is taught by our certified personal trainer
FIT 101 Tues & Thurs at 8p-930p Fitness Center

Meditation Mondays Monday at 1230pm Studio 1
Meditation is a practice that involves focusing or clearing your mind using a combination of mental and physical techniques. Meditation provides many benefits. You can meditate to relax, reduce anxiety and stress, and more.
Walking Program
This program offers an opportunity to get out and see beautiful Seaside Park as well as burning calories. Each day the faculty, staff, students, and UB community members can walk a different course ranging from 1.8 miles up to 4.8 miles. Come walk your way to satisfaction!
