Outdoor Track & Field Hits Mid-Point Of 2023 Campaign
Teams Back In Action On Friday At ECSU
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport outdoor track & field teams had another busy week last week with the women competing in the mid-week UMass Multi Meet, and both squads seeing action back in Amherst at the UMass Commonwealth Invitational on Saturday.
At the UMass Multi Meet, freshman Larissa Weber (Purgstall, Austria) had another strong performance in the heptathlon to solidify her place in the region in that discipline, as she accumulated a total of 3065 points to take ninth place over the two days against mostly Division 1 competition.
On Saturday, Weber had a season-best in the women's javelin, as she grabbed fifth place with a toss of 37.00m. Teammate Emilia Russell (Kingston, U.K.) took ninth in the same event with a distance of 32.92m.
On the men's side, freshman Joshua Karyea (Nazareth, Pa. cleared 3.35m in the pole vault to take sixth place, and in the high jump, graduate student Brandon Adams (Highland Mills, N.Y.) took ninth place with a leap of 1.78m.
Up next, both teams will be in action on Friday at the Eastern Connecticut State Invitational.
