Swimmers Wrap Up Day Two At 2018 ECAC Open Championship

Piscataway, N.J.- The University of Bridgeport men's and women's swimming teams wrapped up day two of the 2018 ECAC Open Championship taking place at the Sonny Werblin Recreation Center on the campus of Rutgers University in Piscataway, New Jersey on Saturday night and the UB men sit in eighth place out of 21 teams while UB women are sixteenth out of 24 squads.

For the UB women, junior Nina Stegu (Ljublijana, Slovenia) took fifth place in the 200 Yard Freestyle (1:51.47) and teammate, senior Annagrazia Bonsanti (Caracas, Venezuela) took sixth in the same event at 1:52.23.

For the UB men, junior Wilmar Du Plessis (Bloemfontein, South Africa) grabbed fourth place in the 100 Yard Backstroke in a time of 49.29, and sophomore Erik Hren (Maribor, Slovenia) was eighth in the 200 Yard Freestyle in a time of 1:49.52.

The Bridgeport men's 800 Yard Freestyle Relay team took second place in a time of 6:42.00.

Action concludes at the ECAC Open Championships on Sunday.
