Purple Knights Off To Strong Start At 2016 Metropolitan Conference Swimming Championships
Women In Second Place And Men In Third After Day One Of Three Day Event
Piscataway, N.J.-The University of Bridgeport men's and women's swimming teams both got off to strong starts on day one of the 2016 Metropolitan Conference Championship Meet taking place on the campus of Rutgers University in Piscataway, New Jersey on Friday night, as the UB men sit in third place and the UB women are in second place to begin the three-day event. The Purple Knights men's team compiled a total of 273 points on Friday to sit in third place behind Rowan University, who leads the men's standings with 539 points. The Bridgeport women totaled 337.5 points to trail only LIU Post (364 points) after first day action.
UB swimmers took first place in both the men's and women's 500-yard Freestyle on Friday night, as freshman Klavio Meca (Triana, Albania) took first place for the men (4:31.62), and sophomore Annagrazia Bonsanti (Caracas, Venezuela) won the women's race (4:58.33).
The Bridgeport men also got first place finishes on Friday from the 400-yard Medley team (3:15.17), and senior Ivan Capan (Zagreb, Croatia) in the 200 IM (1:49.02).
