Men's Swimming Continues To Add To All-American Total At NCAA Championship
UB In Ninth Place As A Team After Two Days Of Four-Day Event
Birmingham, Alabama-The University of Bridgeport men's swimming team had another strong showing on Day Two of the 2013 NCAA Division II National Championships being held in Birmingham, Alabama, as the Purple Knights picked up a pair of third place finishes (200 Free and 200 Free Relay) and also brought home points in the 400 yard Medley Relay with an eleventh place finish. UB sits in ninth place with 166 points out of 27 teams that have scored points. Drury leads the meet at the halfway point of the four-day event with 258 total points.
Graduate student Krzysztof Wilk (Krakow, Poland) earned All-American honors as an individual with an eighth place finish in the 200 yard Freestyle in a time of 1:39.00.
Wilk was also part of the 200 yard Freestyle Relay team, along with Ruben Gimenez (Jr., Burgos, Spain), Oscar Pereiro (Jr., Arzua, Spain) and Vladislav Paskas (So., Zrenjanin, Serbia), that earned All-American accolades with a third place finish in a time of 1:20.21.
The UB 400 yard Medley Relay Team of Gimenez, Paskas and senior Vyacheslav Fattakhov (Almatt, Kazakhstan) plus senior Artur Pietrzak (Lenzo, Poland) took 11th in their event with a time of 3:18.57.
Action at NCAA Division II Men's Swimming National Championship Meet continues through Saturday night as part of the 2013 NCAA D II Winter Sports Festival in Birmingham, Alabama
