Freshmen Swimmers Sonia Arau and Oscar Pereiro Earn Male and Female Counsilman-Hunsaker National Collegiate Swimmers-of-the-Week
Pair Helped Purple Knights Sweep Pace In Dual Meet Last Saturday
Somers, Wis.-University of Bridgeport freshman swimmers Sonia Arau (Barcelona, Spain) and Oscar Pereiro (Arzua, Spain) have been selected as this week's Male and Female Counsilman-Hunsaker National Collegiate Swimmers-of-the-Week by CollegeSwimming.com for NCAA Division II teams.
Arau, who now has earned three national swimmer of the week awards so far during the 2010-11 season, won three events in a 139-100 victory over Pace University last Saturday. She won the 400-meter IM (4:49.75, NCAA "A" cut & school record), the 100-meter back (1:03.96, NCAA "B" cut & school record).
Pereiro was a part of three event wins on Saturday in the UB men's dual meet victory over Pace. He won the 100-meter back (55.46, NCAA "B" cut & school record), the 200-meter free (1:57.15), and was a member of the winning 200-meter free relay (23.34-split, NCAA "B" cut & school record).
