Bio

Jerry Washington joins the University of Bridgeport men’s basketball staff for his first season in 2022-23. Prior to joing the Purple Knights’ men’s hoops staff, he served as an assistant coach at Harding High School.

Washington is highly involved in the community, as he directs a basketball program in the City of Bridgeport at the Trumbull Gardens multi-purpose center. Over the last few years, he also has been working with Connecticut Elite Coach and Long Island Lightning AAU programs with player development and attending various coaching clinics and pro camps.

He also previously held the position of student assistant basketball coach and strength and conditioning coach in 2016-17 and helped with recruiting and scouting under former head coach Jay Harlow at Western Connecticut State University. Washington also completed his undergrad degree and played at West. Conn. 

A Bridgeport native, Jerry had a standout high school basketball career at Central High School.
