Six Purple Knights Reach Double Figures But UB Men Defeated At Dominican University New York, 91-81
Bridgeport Back In Action At Chest Hill On Saturday Afternoon
Orangeburg, N.Y.-Six players reached double-digit scoring for the visiting University of Bridgeport men's basketball team, but the host Dominican University New York Chargers dominated the inside game scoring 50 points in the paint on their way to a 91-81 Central Atlantic College Conference win on Tuesday night. UB is now 10-11 overall and 6-7 in the CACC. Dominican is now 16-5 overall and 8-4 in conference play.
Junior D'Andre Collins (Newark, N.J.) led the Purple Knights' quintet in double figures with 16 points. He was followed by sophomore Taj Chiles (Harlem, N.Y.) with14 points (tied a season-high), seniors Ali Sumareh (Bronx, N.Y.) and Mason Williams (Voorhees, N.J.) chipped in 13 points each (game number five in a row in double-digit scoring for Williams), plus senior Malcolm Moye (Windsor, Conn.) and graduated student Matt Turner (Trumbull, Conn.) finished with 10 points apiece.
Chiles had a fine all-around game dishing off a total of seven assists, and Williams fell just shy of a double-double recording a team-leading eight rebounds.
Wahaad Johnson led five Chargers in double-digit scoring with a game-high 28 points
Up next, the UB men's basketball team will look to get back in the win column and snap a three-game losing streak on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Philadelphia, Pa. to take on Chestnut Hill College in a conference tilt. Tip-off is set for 3:00 p.m.
