UB Men Fall At Home To Hot-Shooting Jefferson, 81-70, In CACC Play
Three Players Reach Double-Digit Scoring On The Afternoon For Bridgeport
Bridgeport, Conn.-The host University of Bridgeport men's basketball team trailed the visiting Thomas Jefferson University Rams by 17 points midway through the first half, 29-12, and the Purple Knights could never get over the hump in the contest, as the hot-shooting visiting posted an 81-70 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference win in Hubbell Gym on Saturday afternoon. UB is now 7-8 overall and 3-4 in conference play. The rams, who shot 56.6 percent from the floor in the game, are now 8-7 overall and 4-1 in the CACC.
Matt Turner (Grad., Trumbull, Conn.), who knocked down 5-of-10 three-point shots, led Bridgeport in scoring with 19 points.
Sophomore Taj Chiles (Harlem, N.Y.) had 12 points for UB, and he also dished out four assists and had one steal, and senior Malcolm Moye (Windsor, Conn.) rounded out the trio of Purple Knights in double-digit scoring with 11 points, and he also grabbed a team-best seven rebounds on the afternoon.
Erik Timko led four Jefferson players in double figures with a game-high 23 points.
The UB men are back action at home on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. when the Purple Knights host Felician University in a CACC matchup that is part of a doubleheader with the women's squad.
