Ryo Kobayashi Scores A Career-Best 31 Points Against The Redhawks
Rochester, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team started the game as cold as the weather outside in Western New York on Saturday afternoon at Roberts Wesleyan College, as the Purple Knights missed their first eight shots and fell behind 13-0, and UB could never recovery from that slow start, as the host Redhawks led form wire-to-wire posting a 113-105 East Coast Conference win. Saturday's loss snaps a four-game winning streak for Bridgeport, as the Purple Knights are now 7-9 overall and 4-3 in conference play. Roberts Wesleyan moves to 6-5 overall and 4-2 in the ECC.
Sophomore Ryo Kobayashi (Kanagawa, Japan) led UB and all scorers in the contest with a career-high 31 points in 21 minutes played off the bench.
Ryo was joined in double figures by freshman Taj Chiles (Harlem, N.Y.), who scored a career-high 18 points, sophomore D'Andre Collins (Newark, N.J.) added 13 points and fell just shy of a double-double grabbing a team-high nine rebounds plus junior Ali Sumareh (Bronx, N.Y.) chipped in 10 points.
Amari Lee led six Roberts Wesleyan player in double figures with 19 points.
Saturday's 105 points are a season-high for the Purple Knights
