UB Men Open ECC Play With A 90-66 Triumph At D'Youville
Malcolm Moye Leads All Scorers On Friday Night With 21 Points For The Winners
Buffalo, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team got back in the win column on Friday night, as UB snapped a two-game skid and opened this year's East Coast Conference schedule with 90-66 triumph over the host D'Youville College Saints. With the victory, the Purple Knights move to 3-6 overall and 1-0 in the ECC. The Saints slip to 1-7 overall and 0-1 in conference action.
UB led by 10 points, 47-37, at the half, and the visitors put the game away with a quick 14-2 run to open the second half to grab a 61-39 lead, and they were never challenged the rest of the way.
Friday's 90 points are a season-high for Bridgeport, as the Purple Knights shot 50.7 percent from the floor on the night, connecting on 36 of 71 shots.
Junior Malcolm Moye (Hartford, Conn.) led Bridgeport in scoring with 21 points, as she hit 10-of-15 field goals.
Malcolm was joined in double-digit scoring by graduate student Nemanja Zubac (Becka Palanka, Serbia) with 19 points, junior Mason Williams (Philadelphia, Pa.) with 15 points and sophomore Tim Dawson (New Haven, Conn.) with 14 points.
Zubac, who put home 8-of-9 shot attempts on the evening, finished with a double-double, as he collected a game-high 11 rebounds.
Jared Sullivan led D'Youville with 14 points in the game.
Next up, the UB men's basketball team will compete the western New York portion of a four-game road trip with an East Coast Conference contest at Daemen College on Sunday. Tip-off is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
