Men's Basketball Hangs On For Big 67-64 ECC Road Victory Over Daemen
Winners Of Eight Straight Games, Purple Knights Move To 12-2 Overall And 4-0 In Conference Play
Amherst, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team held on to post a big East Coast Conference road win over the host Daemen College Wildcats, 67-64, on Sunday afternoon in Western New York. The Purple Knights, winners of eight consecutive games, are now 12-2 overall and 4-0 in the ECC. Daemen is now 14-5 overall and 3-2 in conference action. UB's victory on Sunday snaps a 17-game homecourt by the Wildcats.
The Purple Knights only trailed by a 2-0 score on Sunday and held a 33-28 lead at halftime that they extended to a 15-point advantage, 59-44, with 8:12 to play, but Daemen came back to cut the deficit to only one, 65-64, with 11 seconds to play before senior Bakary Camara iced the game with a pair of made free throws with just under nine seconds to play.
Camara led Bridgeport in both scoring and rebounding on Sunday notching a double-double of 18 points and 10 rebounds. He also had three steals and two blocks plus a pair of assists on the afternoon.
Senior D'Vonne Trumbo (Pilesgrove, N.J.) added 15 points for the winners, and junior Travis Robinson-Morgan (Elmont, N.Y.) rounded out the Purple Knights in double-digit scoring with 10 points.
Daemen's Andrew Sisco led all scorers and rebounders on the day with an impressive double-double of 28 points and 11 rebounds.
Up next, the UB men's basketball team will look to extend its winning streak to nine games on Wednesday evening when the Purple Knights open a two-game homestand against Molloy College. Action in Hubbell Gym is set to begin at 7:00 p.m.
