Syracuse, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team saw its successful 207-18 come to an end on Saturday in the NCAA Division II East Regional Quarterfinals, as the number three seed Purple Knights were defeated by the number six seed Merrimack College Warriors, 85-70. UB closes out its season at 25-6, and Merrimack moves on to the NCAA Regional semifinals with a record of 20-11.
With the score tied at 32-32, Merrimack closed out the first hall on an 11-2 run to take a 43-34 lead into the locker room and never looked back, as they increased their lead to as many as 19 in the second half.
Junior D'Vonne Trumbo (Pilesgrove, N.J.) led the Purple Knights in scoring with 13 points and rebounding with seven. He was joined in double figures by junior Bakary Camara (Harlem, N.Y.) with 10 points.
Ryan Boulter led four Merrimack players in double digits with 20 points.
