Men's Basketball Falls In High-Scoring Affair To UDC, 100-92
Five Purple Knights Reach Double-Digit Scoring But Team Suffers Fifth Conference Loss
Bridgeport, Conn.-Five players reached double-digit scoring, but it was not enough, as the University of Bridgeport men's basketball team suffered a high-scoring, 100-92, East Coast Conference home loss to the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds on Saturday afternoon. UB is now 12-10 overall and 9-5 in the ECC. UDC ups its overall mark to 13-11, and its conference record to 11-5.
Senior Muhammed Ahmed (Bronx, N.Y.) led the Purple Knights with 17 points.
Ahmed was followed in scoring by graduate student Antoine Brown (Brooklyn, N.Y.), who had 15 points, senior Ernest Rouse (Freeport, N.Y.) with 14 points, junior Montana Mayfield (Philadelphia, Pa.) with 12 points and senior Devon Elliott (Brooklyn, N.Y.) with 10 points.
Senior Eddie Asamoah (Calgary, Alberta, Canada) led on the glass with a game-high eight rebounds, and he also chipped in nine points.
Joseph Nickerson led the victorious Firebirds with a game-high 24 points.
The Bridgeport men's basketball team will look to snap at two-game losing streak when the Purple Knights return to action on Tuesday night at Dowling College. Action is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m.
