Five Players Reach Double-Digit Scoring As UB Men Defeat Molloy, 76-72
Purple Knights Close Out The Game On A 10-5 Run To Pick Up The Win
Bridgeport, Conn.-Trailing 67-66 with 2:54 to play in the second, the University of Bridgeport men's basketball team closed out the game on a 10-5 run to pick up a 76-72 home East Coast Conference win over the visiting Molloy College Lions on Thursday night. The victory is Bridgeport's three win in a row, and the Purple Knights have won seven of their last eight game to raise their overall record 8-6, and their ECC mark to 6-1. Molloy is now 4-11 overall and 2-5 in conference action.
Senior Muhammed Ahmed (Bronx, N.Y.) led five UB players in double-figure scoring with 19 points. He was joined in double digits by classmates Ernest Rouse (Freeport, N.Y.) with 16 points and Jesse Jones (Irvington, N.J.) and Devon Elliott (Brooklyn, N.Y.), each had 11 points. Sophomore Eric Rankin (Stratford, Conn.) rounded out the Bridgeport five in double figures with 10 points.
Elliott led all players on the night in rebounding with nine boards.
Molloy's Curtis Jenkins led all players on the night with a career-high 23 points.
The UB men's basketball team will next be in action on Saturday afternoon when the Purple Knights open a two-game East Coast Conference road trip at Queens (N.Y.) College in Flushing, New York. Tip time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
