Road Roll Continues As Men's Basketball Wins At UDC, 83-72
UB Men Now 12-2 Away From The Park City This Season
Washington, D.C.-Senior Willie Williams III (Norwalk, Conn.) scored a team-high 22 points and grabbed eight rebounds to help lead the University of Bridgeport men's basketball team to an 83-72 road East Coast Conference win over the host University of the District of Columbia Firebirds on Saturday afternoon in a snowy Nation's Capital. With the victory, the Purple Knights are now 19-6 overall and 14-3 in conference play. UDC slips to 5-21 overall and 5-13 in the ECC. Bridgeport has now won four games in a row and six of its last seven games, plus the team is now an impressive 12-2 in road game so far this season.
UB lead 42-41 at the half and outscored their hosts by nine points (40-31) in the second half to grab the 11-point, 83-72, triumph.
Joining Williams in double-digit scoring for the winners were juniors Eddie Asamoah (Calgary, Canada) with 14 points, Devon Elliott (Brooklyn, N.Y.) with 13 points and Jesse Jones (Irvington, N.J.) chipped in 12 points off the Bridgeport bench.
Elliott played a fine all-around game grabbing nine rebounds, dishing out five assists and making three steals.
UDC's Michael Terry led all scorers on the day with 25 points.
Up next, the UB men open the final week of the regular season at home versus Dowling College on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m.
