Three-Pointer By Ernest Rouse With 0.4 Seconds To Play Lifts UB Men Over Daemen, 63-60
Purple Knights Now 18-6 Overall And 13-3 In The ECC
Bridgeport, Conn. – University of Bridgeport junior Ernest Rouse (Freeport, N.Y.) buried a corner three-point shot with 0.4 seconds to play to lift the Purple Knights to a 63-60 win over the visiting Daemen College Wildcats in a battle of East Coast Conference men's basketball heavyweights on Saturday afternoon. With the win, UB is now 18-6 overall and 13-3 in the ECC. Bridgeport has also now posted three wins a row, and the team has won five of its last six outings. The Wildcats are now 16-7 overall and 11-4 in conference play.
Bridgeport held a 60-55 lead with just 52 second to play after senior Naqwan Crowell (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) scored an acrobatic lay-up, but the Wildcats battle back to tie things at 60-60 with 25 seconds to play on a three-point shot by Kyle Clifford to set up Rouse's heroics.
Junior Devon Elliott (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led UB in scoring with 18 points, and he was joined in double figures by senior Willie Williams III (Norwalk, Conn.) who had 12 points.
Jordan Greene led three Daemen players in double figures with 19 points.
Up next, the UB men's team travels to Washington, D.C. next Saturday to take on the University of the District of Columbia.
