Men's Basketball Rallies From 21 Points Down But Falls To NYIT, 94-92, On Bank Shot Buzzer Beater
JoJo Swift Leads All Scorers With 29 Points And Antonie Brown Notched A Double-Double With 19 Points And 12 rebounds
Bridgeport, Conn.– NYIT's Wayne Bradford banked home a jump shot from near the top of the key as time expired to lift the visiting Bears to a 94-92 East Coast Conference win over the host University of Bridgeport Purple Knights on Saturday afternoon in the Park City. UB, which only led 2-0 on the afternoon, rallied from being down by as many as 21 points in the second half to tie things at 92-92 when senior Ivan Simic (Belgrade, Serbia) hit a three-point shot with four seconds to play in the game. NYIT is now 5-7 overall and 3-3 in the ECC. Bridgeport is now 6-7 overall and 4-3 in conference play.
Purple Knights' senior JoJo Swift (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led all scorers in the game with 29 points, and he also dished off seven assists. Teammate Antoine Brown (Jr., Brooklyn, N.Y.) had a double-double 19 points and 12 rebounds, 10 of which came on the offensive glass. UB outrebounded NYIT, 47-27 on the day (including a whopping 24-7 edge in offensive rebounds), but the Bears shot the ball extremely well connecting on 56.3 percent of their total field goals (36-of-64) and 47.6 percentage of their three-point shots (10-of-21).
NYIT's Markus Moore led four Bears' in double figures with 25 points.
Bridgeport continues its three-game homestand on Friday night, when the Purple Knights host Roberts Wesleyan College in ECC action. Tip-off is set for 7:00 p.m.
