Men's Basketball Tops Felician, 113-85, In 2013-14 Season Opener
Five Purple Knights Reach Double-Digit Scoring
Bridgeport, Conn. –The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team defeated the Felician College Golden Falcons Saturday night by a score of 113-85 in its first game of the 2013-14 season. The Purple Knights came out strong to start the game as they led by as many as 15 points in the first half and had a nine point lead at the half, 50-41.
Bridgeport had five different players score in double figures led by senior Ivan Simic (Belgrade, Serbia) who netted 26 points on 8-of-10 from the field including hitting four-of-five from three point range. Also in double figures were senior JoJo Swift (Brooklyn, N.Y.) 23 points, juniors Antoine Brown (Brooklyn, N.Y.) with 15 points and Sean Berry (Irvington, N.J.) with 10 points plus sophomore Ernest Rouse (Freeport, N.Y.) added 14 points. Brown, in addition to his 15 points, added eight rebounds, six assists, and seven steals to put together a well-rounded performance.
For Felician, Tim Massado led the Golden Falcons with 17 points
Both teams will be back in action tomorrow, Sunday, November 10 in day two of the Bridgeport Men's Basketball Classic. Felician will take on Molloy College at 4:00 pm., and UB will take on the Southern Connecticut State Owls in the final game of the day; tip-off is set for 8:00 pm.
