Men's Hoops Cruises To Tenth Straight Win Defeating Queens, 85-58
Darian David Leads Balanced Purple Knights With 16 Points
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport men's basketball team trailed only once in the game at 2-0, as the Purple Knights cruised to their tenth win in a row and 14 victory in their last 15 games with an 85-58 home East Coast Conference triumph over the visiting Queens (N.Y.) College Knights on Saturday afternoon.
Senior Darian David (Bronx, N.Y.) led a balanced UB offensive attack with 15 points. David also dished off eight assists and had four steals for the winners.
Darian was joined in double figures by junior Curtis Loving (Brooklyn, N.Y.) who played a strong game off the Purple Knights' bench netting 14 points and grabbing seven rebounds, and junior Ivan Simic (Belgrade, Serbia) with 10 points.
UB senior Dion Waiters (Brooklyn, N.Y.) had a solid all-around day with nine points, seven steals and six rebounds. Classmate Lloyd Antoine (Brooklyn, N.Y.) also had nine points, plus he grabbed seven rebounds and added one blocked shot, one assist and one steal.
The Purple Knights dominated the game on the boards outrebounding QC, 44-29, plus the Bridgeport bench outscored the Queens' non-starters, 37-6.
George Holmes led Queens with a game-high 19 points.
The UB men's basketball team is back in action next Saturday, February 23 when they will look to run their winning streak to 11 games at St. Thomas Aquinas College.
