Bridgeport Baseball Falls In A Pitchers' Duel To Close Out 2023 Home Schedule
UB Defeated By Dominican University New York, 2-1
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport baseball team closed out its 2023 home schedule on Tuesday afternoon in Seaside Park, and the Purple Knights fell in a pitchers' duel to the visiting Dominican University New York Chargers, 2-1. UB is now 8-35 overall and 4-17 in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference. DUNY is now 11-31 overall and 8-12 in the CACC.
Freshman Brendan Palmer (Ansonia, Conn.) pitched well on Tuesday as he has all season long, but he was the hard-luck loser allowing only two runs on five hits with no walks and five strikeouts
Senior Tyler Solomon (Blue Point, N.Y.) worked a scoreless ninth to finish the game for Bridgeport.
Sophomore Jeremy Rodrigues (Monroe, Conn.) had two of his team's three hits on the afternoon, and freshman James Ackerman (Smithtown, N.Y.) had the Purple Knights' other base knock, a second inning RBI single.
The two teams will close out their three-game series on Thursday at Dominican with 1 1:00 p.m. doubleheader.
