Caldwell Plates A Run In The Top Of The Ninth To Top UB Baseball, 3-2, In CACC Action
Purple Knights Set To Host Pace On Wednesday In Seaside Park
Bridgeport, Conn.-The visiting Caldwell University Cougars pushed across a run in the top of the ninth inning on a pinch-hit RBI double by Stephen Young Jr. to defeat the host University of Bridgeport Purple Knights, 3-2, in Seaside Park on Tuesday afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference contest. UB is now 7-26 overall and 3-10 in the CACC. Caldwell moves to 9-19 overall and is also 3-10 in conference play.
The Purple Knights outhit the Cougars, 8-6, on the day but left eight runs on base, seven of which were in scoring position.
Sophomore Jeremy Rodrigues (Monroe, Conn.) led the Bridgeport offense with two hits on the day, and junior Justin Leigh (Bridgeport, Conn.) had an RBI.
The UB baseball team will be right back in action at home on Wednesday afternoon in Seaside Park when the Purple Knights host the Setters of Pace University in a non-conference game. First pitch is set for 3:00 p.m.
