Game 1
Wilmington (Del.)
New Castle, Del.-The University of Bridgeport baseball team traveled to Delaware on a chilly Thursday afternoon for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference doubleheader against the host Wilmington (Del.) University Wildcats, and the Purple Knights dropped both ends of the twinbill falling 17-4 in the opener and losing, 5-1, in game two. Bridgeport is now 6-17 overall and 2-4 in conference play. Wilmington is now 10-11 overall and 3-1 in the CACC.
In game one, Craig Leonard (Grad. Holtsville, N.Y.) and seniors Jacob Rich (Northwood, N.H.) and Shane McCone (Milford, Conn.), each had two hits and a run batted in for the Purple Knights.
In the nightcap, freshman Tyler Hodella (Miller Place, N.Y.) drove in UB's lone run with a fifth inning ground out, as the Purple Knights were limited to just four hits in the game, two of which came from sophomore Christian Ortiz (Linden, N.J.).
Up next, it will be a quick turnaround for the UB baseball team, as the Purple Knights return home for a Friday conference doubleheader in Seaside Park versus Felician University beginning at 12 noon.
