Tampa. Fla.-The University of Bridgeport baseball fell twice in Florida on Monday dropping an 15-8 decision against Bentley University to start the day, and then the Purple Knights gave the nationally-ranked University of Tampa Spartans all the could handle, as the game ended with the bases loaded for UB, and the hosts held on for a 5-4 victory. With the two losses, Bridgeport is now 4-5-1 overall in 2020.
Versus Bentley, sophomore Joey Grillo (Sound Beach, N.Y.) had a home run and a triple and drove in two runs.
Sophomores Ryan Donnelly (Fairfield, Conn.) and Logan Allen (Magnolia, Tex.) each added two hits and a run batted in to the Purple Knights attack.
Against the Spartans, freshman John Chacho (Seymour, Conn.) had three of his team's five hits and knocked in a pair of teammates.
Senior Alex Rauso (Trumbull, Conn.) had Bridgeport's other RBI in the Tampa game to raise his team-best total to 12 runs batted in.
The Purple Knights return to the diamond in Florida on Tuesday morning at 11:00 a.m. when they close out their four-game Sunshine State series against Bentley.
