Bridgeport Baseball Uses Five-Run Seventh Inning To Rally For Win Versus Bentley In Florida
Purple Knights Top The Falcons, 6-5, On Sunday
Altamonte Springs, Fla.-For the second straight day, the University of Bridgeport baseball team defeated the Bentley University Falcons in Florida, as today the Purple Knights rallied from a 4-0 deficit to score a run in the top of the sixth and five more runs in the top of the seventh and held on for a 6-5 victory. UB is now 4-3-1 on the season, and Bentley slips to 2-8 overall.
After senior Alex Rauso (Trumbull, Conn.) got the Purple Knights no the board with an RBI infield single in the top of the sixth, Bridgeport responded with five runs in the next frame on an RBI-single to center by sophomore Cory Listing (West Sand Lake, N.Y.), an RBI infield hit by junior Conall Roberts (Mt. Laurel, N.J.) plus an Falcons' error plated two, and final a two-run single by sophomore Logan Allen (Magnolia, Tex.). Allen and classmate Bobby Pollock (Coram, N.Y.), each finished with two hits on the day for the winners.
On the mound, senior, starter Jason Burger (Orlando, Fla.) picked up the win working six complete innings to even his season mark at 1-1, as he allowed 10 hits, four runs (three earned), with six K's and two walks.
Freshman Tyler Solomon (Blue Point, N.Y.) earned his first save of the season working 1.2 innings of scoreless relief in which he fanned four and walked just one.
The same two teams will continue their Sunshine State series on Monday at 11 a.m., and UB will finish the day with a 6:00 p.m. game at the University of Tampa.
