Myrtle Beach, S.C.-The University of Bridgeport baseball team put on an offensive show in its 2017 season opener on Friday afternoon defeating the Concordia (N.Y.) College Clippers, 23-6, in a game play at the Riken Experience in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Junior, lead-off hitter Cam Overbaugh (Catskill, N.Y.) did more than just set the table on offense for the Purple Knights in Friday's season opener, as he 4-for-5 at the plate with a double, a triple and six runs batted in.
Newcomer, graduate student Chris Triano (Greenwich, Conn.) made his UB debut a memorable one, going 3-for-5 at the plate with a home run, a triple and five runs batted in.
Freshman Matt Alicki (Milford, Conn.) worked two innings in relief to pick up his first collegiate win.
On Saturday, the UB baseball team will play two games in Myrtle Beach taking on Dominican (N.Y.) College at 10:00 a.m. and Felician College at 1:00 p.m.
