University of Bridgeport Vice President for Athletics and Recreation Jay Moran has announced that Laura Scinto has been named as UB's new Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance, where she will oversee all NCAA compliance, including recruiting, eligibility, and financial aid. Scinto will begin her duties at the University of Bridgeport on September 29, 2022.

She will bring a wide-variety of knowledge and experience to this key role in the Purple Knights' Department of Athletics and Recreation having worked within private and public higher education for 24 years, plus 14 years in nursing.

Stated Moran, "We are excited to welcome Laura Scinto to the University of Bridgeport and our Athletics family.  Her successful career with a diverse background intercollegiate athletics will serve our student-athletes and our department well in the key role."

Scinto comes to Bridgeport from Fairfield University where she served as the Stags' associate head women's basketball coach from 2007-2022.  Prior to her tenure at Fairfield, she was assistant women's basketball coach at Southern Connecticut State University from 1998-2007, where she helped the Owls to the 2007 NCAA Division II National Championship.

Laura began her coaching career after a successful four-year playing career at Bryant University, where she eclipsed 1,000 career points and helped lead Bulldogs to three NCAA Tournament appearances. Scinto graduated with a B.S. in Business Administration from Bryant and went on to earn A.S. and R.N. degrees from St. Vincent's College of Nursing.
 
Scinto played her high school basketball at Shelton High School, where she scored 1,338 points, the second most in the Gaels' history. As a player, she led the squad to the 1985 State Class LL and Housatonic League Championships. She became the most decorated Shelton athlete and the first to graduate with 12 varsity letters while playing basketball, soccer, and softball.
