Newark, N.J.-The University of Bridgeport cross country teams returned to action after a weekend off last week to compete at the NJIT Highlander Invitational on Saturday. The UB women finished in 21st place in the large field, and the Bridgeport men finished in 27th place on the day.
Senior Ashley Arroyo (Hamden, Conn.) was the top Bridgeport women's team finisher, as she covered the 5K course in a time of 23:51.89, good for the 128th scoring place.
On the men's side, senior Kari Hassinen (Helsinki, Finland) completed the 8K course in a time of 32:13.63 to finish in 142nd scoring place.
Up next, the Bridgeport cross country teams will wrap up their 2019 season at the East Coast Conference Championship Meet that will be held on Saturday, October 26 at New York Tech.
