UB Volleyball Ups Season Mark To 14-3 With Straight Sets Triumph At Franklin Pierce
Purple Knights Top Ravens, 25-17. 25-21, 25-20
Rindge, N.H-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team upped its 2019 overall season record to 14-3 with a straight set, 25-17. 25-21, 25-20, road win over the host Franklin Pierce University Ravens in New Hampshire on Saturday evening. With the loss, FPU is now stands at 7-6 on the season.
Seniors Emily Burford (Albuquerque, N.M.) and Amanda Hennemann (Nova Petropolis, Brazil) led the UB offense in the Granite State, as Burford slammed 14 kills and Hennemann added 13. Emily also contributed four blocks for the winners, and Amanda finished with a double-double, as she notched 14 digs.
Sophomore setter Carly Killorin (Centennial, Colo.) had a solid all-around night, as she directed the Purple Knights' offense with 41 assists, and she also chipped in eight digs and six service aces.
On the Bridgeport backline, junior Klein Johnson (San Antonio, Texas) led the team with 22 digs, and sophomore Breanna Jones (Littleton, Colo.) also reached double-digit digs with 10 in the three sets.
Next up for the UB women's volleyball team, the Purple Knight will travel to New Haven, Connecticut for a Tuesday night non-conference tussle with local rival, Southern Connecticut State University. First serve is slated for 7:00 p.m. in the Elm City.
