Waterbury, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team defeated Felician University in four sets (20-25, 25-23, 26-24, 25-4) and stopped Southern Connecticut State University in straight sets (25-21, 25-17, 25-15) to close out the Post University Invitational on Sunday and remain unbeaten on the season at 6-0.
In the win over Felician, seniors Amanda Hennemann (Nova Petropolis, Brazil) and Morgan Knight (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) led the Purple Knights' offense, as they each contributed 13 kills. Hennemann hit .464 in the win over the Golden Falcons.
Sophomore setter Carly Killorin (Centennial, Colo.) directed the UB with 43 assists in Sunday's opening win.
Sophomore Breanna Jones (Littleton, Colo.) led the Bridgeport defense with 16 digs against Felician, and she was joined in double figures in digs by junior Klein Johnson (San Antonio, Texas) with 14 and senior Emily Burford (Albuquerque, N.M.) with 12.
In a battle of undefeated team against Southern Connecticut State, as the Owls entered the match at 6-0, Emily Burford led the Purple Knight with 11 kills and hit .526, and she was joined in double-digit kills by Amanda Keller with 10.
Carly Killorin notched her third double-double in six matches so in 2019 with 32 assists and 11 digs.
Klein Johnson shined on the Bridgeport backline registering 13 digs.
Up next, the UB women's volleyball team will play its only home match for the next four weeks, when the Purple Knights host Bentley University. First serve in Hubbell Gym is set for 7:00 p.m.
