Balanced Offensive Attack Helps UB Volleyball To Four-Set Home Triumph Over LIU Post
Purple Knights Now 7-0 At Home In 2018
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team remain undefeated on their home court with a four-set, East Coast Conference victory over the visiting LIU Post Pioneers on Saturday in Hubbell Gym, 25-19, 22-25, 25-18, 25-22. The Purple Knights, who are now 7-0 on their home court, move to 10-5 overall and 4-1 in conference play. The Pioneers are now 11-7 overall and 3-2 in the ECC this season.
Freshman Amanda Keller (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) led a balanced Bridgeport offense with 15 kills, as she hit a red-hot .636 on the day. Amanda also added five blocks at the net for the winners. Close behind Keller in the kills department were juniors Morgan Knight (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) and Emily Burford (Albuquerque, N.M.) with 13 and 12 respectively. Burford also wrapped up the afternoon with five blocks.
Junior Galia Nankin (Ra'anana, Israel) also reached double-digit kills on the day with 10.
Senior setter, Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch. Colo.) finished with a match-high 45 assists and contributed 10 digs on the day for her second straight double-double.
Sophomore Klein Johnson (San Antonio, Texas) led the UB defense with a match-best 20 digs, plus Klein chipped in seven assists and one service ace for the winners.
Up next, the UB women's volleyball team travels to Western New York to face Daemen College in an ECC tilt on Friday evening to open a seven-match road trip. First serve is set for 6:00 p.m.
