Volleyball Suffers First Conference Loss At NYIT Falling In Four Sets
Purple Knights Right Back In Action On Saturday At Home Versus LIU Post
Old Westbury, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team suffered its first East Coast Conference loss of 2018 on Friday night, as the Purple Knights fell in four sets at NYIT, 16-25, 23-25, 25-23, 20-15. UB is now 9-5 overall and 3-1 in the ECC; while the host Bears are now 9-8 overall and 1-3 in conference action.
Junior Emily Burford (Albuquerque, N.M.) led the Bridgeport offense with 12 kills. Burford was followed by classmates Morgan Knight (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) with nine kills and Galia Nankin (Ra'anana, Israel) with eight.
UB senior setter Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) finished with a double-double on the evening with 29 assists and 16 digs.
On defense for Bridgeport, freshman Taylor Hyatt (Broomfield, Colo.) finished with a match-high seven blocks, and sophomore Klein Johnson (San Antonio, Texas) led all players with 33 digs on the night.
The UB women's volleyball team is right back in action in less than 24 hours, as the team will look to get back in the win column at home when they host LIU Post in Hubbell Gym at 12 noon on Saturday.
