Purple Knights Earn Fifth Straight Volleyball Win With Road Sweep Over Bentley
UB Now 7-3 Overall
Waltham, Mass.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team picked up its fifth consecutive victory and raised its overall season record to 7-3 with a straight sets, 25-21, 26-24, 25-19, road non-conference win over the host Bentley University Falcons on Friday night. Bentley slips to 5-7 with the loss.
Junior Morgan Knight (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) led all players in the match with 13 kills for the Purple Knights.
Classmate Emily Burford (Albuquerque, N.M.) had eight kills and three blocks for the winners, and freshmen Taylor Hyatt (Broomfield, Colo.) and Amanda Keller (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) had strong matches at the net for Bridgeport, as Hyatt hit .545 with seven kills and three blocks, plus Keller hit .467 with seven kills and five blocks (two solos).
Senior setter Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) had a fine all-around night with 39 assists, nine digs and four kills.
On defense, sophomore Klein Johnson (San Antonio, Texas) was spectacular for UB registering 33 digs, and freshman Breanna Jones (Littleton, Colo.) also reached double-digit digs with 16 against the Falcons.
Up next, the UB women's volleyball team will look to run its winning streak to six when they travel to Adelphi University on Tuesday night. Game time on Long Island is set for 7:00 p.m.
