Purple Knights Even Women's Volleyball Season Mark At 3-3 With Four-Set Home Win Over St. Anselm
Morgan Knights Leads UB With 13 Kills On The Night
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team evened its season record at 3-3 with a four-set home win over the visiting St. Anselm College Hawks on a steamy Tuesday night in Hubbell Gym. After falling 23-25 in the opening set, the host Purple Knights stormed back to win the next three stanzas, 25-14, 25-20, 26-16.
Junior Morgan Knight (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) led the winners is kills with a match-high 13. She was joined in double-digit kills by classmate Emily Burford (Albuquerque, N.M.) with 11 and freshman Amanda Keller (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) with 10. Burford had a fine all-around evening added five service aces, seven digs and three blocks. Keller was also strong at the net adding a match-high six blocks (one solo).
Senior setter Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) directed the Bridgeport offense to the tune of 41 assists, and she also chipped in four kills, seven digs and two blocks.
On defense for UB, sophomore Klein Johnson (San Antonio, Texas) led the team with 13 digs, and freshman Breanna Jones (Littleton, Colo.) and senior Lexi Enck (Lititz, Pa.), each added 10 digs on the night.
Up next, the UB women's volleyball team will host Assumption College on Friday at 7:00 p.m.
