Women's Soccer Standout Maegen Doyle Earns First Team Academic All-District Honors For the Second Straight Season
Purple Knights' Leading Scorer Stars Both On The Pitch And In The Classroom
Bridgeport, Conn.-For the second straight season, University of Bridgeport women's soccer standout Maegen Doyle (Sr., Harwich, England) has earned First Team NCAA Division II Academic All-District honors.
The 2019 Academic All-District® Men's and Women's Soccer Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Honorees selected First Team Academic All-District® advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December. Last season, Doyle, who helped the Purple Knights win the NCAA Division II National Championship and was named United Soccer Coaches' NCAA Division II National Women's Player of the Year, was named a First Team National CoSIDA Academic All-America®.
To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.
A Marketing/Analytics and Systems major with a 3.77 grade point average as an undergraduate, Maegen leads Bridgeport in scoring and is again one of the top scorers in the nation so far this season with 40 points on 16 goals and eight assists in 16 matches played. She has also help UB claimed the 2019 East Coast Conference regular season title, and the Purple Knights will be the top seed in next week's conference championship tournament.
