Bridgeport Women's Soccer Earns Eighteenth Consecutive College Team Academic Award
National Champion Purple Knights Star Both On The Pitch and In The Classroom
Kansas City. Mo.-For the eighteenth consecutive season, the University of Bridgeport women's soccer program has been recognized by United Soccer Coaches with a College Team Academic Award.
A total of 989 college teams (345 men, 644 women) earned the Team Academic Award, including 255 schools who had both their men's and women's programs among the recipients.
The UB women's soccer team, under the direction of 21st-year head coach Magnus Nilerud, posted a 3.35 grade point average during the 2018-19 academic year to earn the award for the eighteenth straight season (every year since 2002). Last season, the Purple Knights also won the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer National Championship, proving as a team, they are stars both on and off the pitch.
