University of Bridgeport Women's Soccer Coaching Staff Selected 2018 NCAA Division II Staff Of The Year
Led By Head Coach Magnus Nilerud The Purple Knights Captured This Year's NCAA National Title
Kansas City, Mo.– United Soccer Coaches announced on Friday the association's 2018 National Staff of the Year recipients for NCAA, NAIA, NCCAA and Junior College men's and women's soccer, as voted on by coaches in each division, and the University of Bridgeport National Championship staff under the direction of head coach. Magnus Nilerud was named the NCAA Division II Women's National Coaching Staff of the Year.
Nilerud, who wrapped up season number twenty on the Bridgeport bench with this year's National Title, earned career win number 275 with the Purple Knights' 1-0 victory over Grand Valley State in championship match on December 1 in Pittsburgh, Pa. Magnus now has an impressive career mark of 275-114-23.
Members of the 2018 University of Bridgeport women's soccer coaching staff are: Magnus Nilerud (head coach), Jack Abelson (first assistant coach), Jonny Macadam (second assistant coach), Jean Cadet (graduate assistant coach), Andre Lindsey (goalkeeper coach) and Barry Beattie, Chris Flaherty plus Asia Pulse (volunteer assistant coaches).
Eleven of the 14 award winners claimed the national or divisional championship in their respective division in 2018, with two of the remaining three advancing to the national semifinals.

Junior College DI Men: Pima CC, led by head coach Dave Cosgrove
Junior College DI Women: Monroe College, led by head coach Marcus DiBernardo
Junior College DIII Men: Richland College, led by head coach Sean Worley
Junior College DIII Women: Santiago Canyon College, led by head coach Ian Woodhead
These staffs will be honored at the United Soccer Coaches Awards Banquet on Jan. 11, 2019 at McCormick Place West in Chicago in conjunction with the 2019 United Soccer Coaches Convention.

Each Regional Staff of the Year was on the ballot for National Staff of the Year, along with the addition of staffs from all schools which reached the semifinals of their respective championship.
