New Haven, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team moved to 2-0 on the young season with an 11-10 road win over the Owls of Southern Connecticut State University on Wednesday afternoon in the Elm City. SCSU is now 1-1 on the year.
Senior Courtney Hylok (Muskegon, Mich.) led the Bridgeport offense with four goals, and junior Julia Ruscio (St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada) plus sophomore Hannah McDermott (Guilford, Conn.) added hat tricks for the winners.
Junior Shyla Murray (Brentwood, N.Y.) had UB's other goal on the afternoon.
Bridgeport senior goalkeeper Cheyanne Gangel (Oakridge, N.J.) was the difference in the game making a total of 20 saves to earn the win in net.
The host Owls outshot the visiting Purple Knights, 39-22, in the game.
Up next, the UB women's lacrosse team will look go 3-0 on the season when UB hosts Caldwell University on Friday. Game time at Knights Field is set for 12 noon.
