Brookville, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team saw its two-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday afternoon on Long Island, as the visiting Purple Knights lost a 15-2 East Coast Conference decision at LIU Post. UB is now 3-6 overall and 0-2 in conference play. The host Pioneers up their season mark to 8-2, and they remain unbeaten in the ECC at 4-0.
LIU Post raced out to a 9-0 lead before sophomore Barbara Orsini (N. Babylon, N.Y.) netted her first of two goals on the day with 6:40 to play in the first half.
Bridgeport goalie Cheyanne Gangel (Soph., Oakridge, N.J.) faced 23 shots and made eight saves on the day.
Up next, the UB women's lacrosse team returns home to Knights Field for a key ECC contest on Sunday versus Roberts Wesleyan. Game time is set for 12 noon in the Park City.
