Springfield, Mass.=The University of Bridgeport women's lacrosse team held a 5-4 lead at halftime and a 7-4 lead early in the second half, but the Purple Knights could not hold on as the host American International College Yellow Jackets posted a 13-10 non-conference win on a chilly Friday night in Massachusetts. UB is on 0-2 on the young season, and AIC ups its overall mark to 3-2.
Junior Courtney Forry (Reinholds, Pa.) and sophomore Barbara Orsini (N. Babylon, N.Y.) each had three goals for Bridgeport on Friday, and freshman Shyla Murray (Brentwood, N.Y.) had two goals and one assist on the evening.
Sophomore goalkeeper Cheyanne Gangel (Oakridge, N.J.) made 22 saves in goal for the Purple Knights.
The UB women's lacrosse team will look to get into the win column for the first time 2018 on Monday afternoon when they host Dominican (N.Y.) College at 4:00 p.m.
