Women's Gymnastics Posts Season-High Team Score Of 194.800 To Take First Place At Five-Team SCSU Meet
UB next in action at the University of Arizona On March 8th
New Haven, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team posted its highest team score of the 2020 season on Saturday afternoon, as the Purple Knights took first place in a five-team meet hosted by Southern Connecticut State University. UB won Saturday's meet with a total score of 194.800. West Chester took second with a team score of 193.125. SCSU and Brown tied for third with a total of 192.400, and Rhode Island College was fifth with a team score of 181.525.
As a team on Saturday, UB scored a 48.825 on the vault, a 48.500 on the bars, a 48.500 on the balance beam, and a 48.975 in the floor exercise.
The Purple Knights grab a first place in all four events at SCSU.
On the vault, UB went one-two-three-four led by sophomore Julianna Roland (Lumberton, N.J.) in first with a 9.850. Jordan Streete (So., Agawam, Mass.) was second at 9.825, and junior Gabrielle Kistner (Raleigh, N.C.) was third at 9.775, plus senior Maya Reimers (New York, N.Y.) tied for fourth at 9.725.
Reimers continued her stellar final season in the Park City, as she took first in the floor exercise with a 9.925 and tied for first on the balance beam with a 9.825.
Julianna Roland, who was the team's top all-arounder in second place on Saturday with a total of 38.950 in the four events, took third on the beam with a 9.775, and Gabrielle Kistner, who finished fifth in the all-around, tied for fourth in the floor exercise with a score of 9.800.
Junior Kathryn Doran (Oakville, Ontario, Canada) tied for first in Saturday's bars competition with a score of 9.875.
Up next, the UB women's gymnastics team will be in action at the University of Arizona, next Sunday, March 8 for a tri-meet with the host Wildcats and Ohio State University.
