UB Gymnastics Begins Busy Weekend Of Action With Season-Best Team Score of 194.175 At Temple's Ken Anderson Invitational
Purple Knights Right Back In Action On Saturday Afternoon At Yale
Philadelphia, Pa.-The University of Bridgeport women's gymnastics team opened a busy weekend of action with three meets in three days by posting a season-high team score of 194.175, as the Purple Knights took second place at the three-team, Ken Anderson Invitational hosted by Temple University. The host Owls won Friday's meet with a score of the 195.000 and were followed by UB in second and Ursinus College took third place at 187.200.
As a team, Bridgeport scored 48.775 on the vault, 48.050 on the bars, 48.700 on the beam and 48.650 on the floor.
The Purple Knights took two first places in the four events on Friday, as senior Maya Reimers (New York, N.Y.) took the top spot in the floor exercise with an impressive 9.900, and sophomore Julianna Roland (Lumberton, N.J.), who finished second in the all-around on Friday night with a total of 38.850 in the four events, tied for first on the vault with a 9.850.
Roland and junior Gabrielle Kistner (Raleigh, N.C) were Bridgeport's top finishers on the balance beam, as they tied for fourth place with identical scores of 9.800. After her career-high score on the beam, Kistner was also strong on in the floor exercise taking third place behind Reimers with a score of 9.850.
On the bars, junior Kathryn Doran (Oakville, Ontario, Canada) was the top UB competitor taking third with a score of 9.725, and classmate Regan Dillon (Delano, Minn.) grabbed fourth place with a 9.700.
Up next, the UB women's gymnastics team will be right back in action closer to home on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. when they take part in the Don Tonry Invitational hosted by Yale University in New Haven. The Purple Knights will then close out their busy weekend back home on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. when they host Brown and Southern Connecticut State.
