Four Purple Knights Earn Weekly ECAC Division II Women's Gymnastics Awards
Quartet Shines At Season-Opening Critique Classic
Danbury, Conn.-Four University of Bridgeport gymnasts have earned the first weekly ECAC Division II Women's Gymnastics Awards for the 2020 season for the outstanding performance in last week's season-opening Critique Classic in Florida.
Senior Maya Reimers (New York, N.Y.) earned ECAC Gymnast of the Week honors, as she began the season with a solid beam set for a 9.750 for the Purple Knights and also turned in strong scores of 9.650 in the floor exercise and a 9.550 on the vault.
Hayley Bangart (Castle Rock, Colo.) was named ECAC Specialist of the Week, as she opened her sophomore with strong showing on bars for a 9.450 and showed off her floor routine in Florida for a 9.475.
UB's Hannah Barry (West Hartford, Conn.) was selected ECAC Rookie of the Week turning in a solid routine on the balance beam that scored 9.600, and junior Regan Dillon (Delano, Minn.) picked up this week's ECAC Coaches' Choice Award, as after spending all of her freshman and sophomore seasons working back from injury, she started her first competitive season strong for Bridgeport scoring a 9.550 on uneven bars; showcasing all of her hard work over the past two seasons.
After an off weekend, the UB women's gymnastics team returns to action on Sunday, January 19, when the Purple Knights host Brown, Yale and Rhode Island College. Action will begin in the Wheeler Recreation center at 1:00 p.m.
