UB Women Move To 2-0 In ECC Play With Wire-To-Wire Win Over Queens (N.Y.) College
Five Purple Knights Reached Double Figures Led By Samirah Henderson With 19 Points
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team got off to a quick 8-0 lead and never looked back, as the Purple Knights moved to 2-0 in East Coast Conference play with an impressive 90-62 home win over the visiting Queens (N.Y) College Knights on Saturday afternoon. The 90 points scored are a season high for Bridgeport, as UB moves to 4-9 overall. Queens is now 3-9 overall and 1-2 in the ECC.
Five players reached double-figure scoring for the winners led by junior Samirah Henderson (Rahway, N.Y.) with 19 points. Henderson had a solid all-around day finishing with a double-double, as she also dished off 10 assists plus grabbed six rebounds.
Junior Alyzae Davis (Bronx, N.Y.) and freshman Dakota Adams (Manchester, N.J.) each had 13 points for the Purple Knights, and those 13 points are a season-high for Adams.
Senior Jaqualah Holliman (Boston, Mass.) with 11 points and junior Janiece Loney (Herndon, Va.) with 10 points completed the UB quintet of double-digit scorers on Saturday.
Following the Holiday Break, the UB women's basketball team will return to the court in 2020 when the Purple Knights host Franklin Pierce University on Thursday, January 2nd. Game time in Hubbell Gym is slated for 2:00 p.m.
