Women's Basketball Picks Up Third Straight Win With 70-52 Triumph Over Queens (N.Y.) College
Team Back In Action For Home Regular Season Finale On Wednesday Versus LIU Post
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team earned its third straight victory on Saturday afternoon defeating Queens (N.Y.) College, 70-52, to ream in the thick of the battle for a conference tournament berth. With the win Bridgeport is now 11-13 overall and an even 7-7 in the East Coast Conference. Queens College is 5-18 overall and 4-11 the ECC.
UB ended the first quarter on a 7-0 run to take a 16-12 lead after the first 10 minutes of action and never looked back.
Senior Samnell Vonleh (Swampscott, Mass.) led the Purple Knights with 17 points and also grabbed six rebounds. Briana Stoddart (Jr., Brooklyn, N.Y.) contributed 14 points for the winners while also pulling down seven rebounds, and Kayla Hill (Jr., Massapequa, N.Y.) ended with 13 points and also had seven rebounds for the winners.
Queens College, Lucy Tougas had an excellent afternoon for the visiting Knights, as she led all scorers with 22 points.
Saturday game was also Make-A Wish Day in Hubbell Gym.
Up next, the UB women's basketball team will play its regular season home finale hosting LIU post on Wednesday night in Hubbell Gym. Senior Night action is slated to begin at 5:00 p.m.
