Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team defeated East Coast Conference foe Molloy College on Wednesday night in Hubbell Gym by a score of 57-48. UB's is now 5-4 overall and 2-1 in the ECC. The Lions fall to 5-4 overall and 0-3 in conference play.
Senior Samnell Vonleh (Swampscott, Mass.) led the Purple Knights in scoring with a game-high 19 points. Vonleh also led the team on the defensive end of the court, racking up four blocks, a steal plus eight rebounds.
Graduate student Nkechi "NK" Ilang (Ebonyi State, Nigeria) recorded a double-double for UB notching 12 points and 10 rebounds.
Senior Sarah Middleton (Barrington, R.I.) helped propel the Bridgeport offense with nine assists. Fellow senior Andrea Terranova (Haverhill, Mass.) did her part defensively recording three steals and grabbing seven rebounds.
Up next, the UB women's basketball team will hit the road to play another ECC opponent in Queens College on Saturday afternoon at 1:30 p.m.
