Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's basketball team grabbed a quick 2-0 lead after the opening tip, but that was the only lead the host Purple Knights could muster on Saturday afternoon, as they fell to the visiting Bentley University Falcons, 83-48, in a non-conference contest. UB is now 1-3 in the early going of the 2018-19 season; while the Flacons remain undefeated at 6-0.
Bridgeport freshman Jaeonna Sutton (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the home team with 13 points, and she was joined in double figures by graduate student Nkechi "NK" Ilang (Ebonyi State, Nigeria) with 12 points and senior Sarah Middleton (Barrington, R.I.) with 10 points.
Bentley's Katie Meriggioli led all scorers on the day with 26 points.
Up next, the UB women's basketball team will look to get back in the win column when they open a two-game road swing at Goldey-Beacom on Thursday evening. Game time is set for 5:00 p.m.
