Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport softball team moved to 6-0 in the East Coast Conference 19-3 overall with a Monday afternoon sweep over the visiting Molloy College Lions, as UB won game one, 2-1, and completed the sweep with a 7-2 victory in the nightcap. Molloy is now 10-17 overall and 1-3 in the ECC.
In the opener, graduate student Amanda Staheli (Pecatonica, Ill.) picked up win number nine of the season firing a five-hit, complete game in which she did not walk a batter and fanned three.
In game two, the Purple Knights banged out 11 hits to pick up the win. Junior Samantha Sabor (Plainfield, Ill.) had three hits and drove in a run for the winners, and senior Jenna DiLorenzo (Woodbridge, Conn.) slammed her fourth home run of the season in the nightcap and finished with three runs batted in.
Junior Ashley Eisnor (Medford, Mass.) worked five innings in the pitching circle to earn her fifth win of the year. Sophomore Miranda Hillman (Placentia, Calif.) finished off game two with two scoreless innings of relief.
The UB softball team is right back in action on Tuesday when they host a non-conference doubleheader against Holy Family University. Action is scheduled to begin in Seaside Park at 2:30 p.m.
