Jefferson
Clermont, Fla.-The University of Bridgeport softball team continued its strong early season play and ups it overall record to 5-1 with two win in Florida on Saturday defeating Stonehill, 7-0, and Jefferson University, 7-3.
Versus Stonehill, graduate student Amanda Staheli (Pecatonica, Illinois) moved her season record to 3-0 as she fired her second straight shutout, as she allowed only one hit coming in the seventh inning.
In Saturday's first game, junior Samantha Sabor (Plainfield, Illinois) and sophomore Samantha Ferreri (Hauppauge, N.Y.) each had two runs batted in for the winners.
Against Jefferson, junior Allison Luzzi (East Haven, Conn.) had knocked in a pair of runs. Sophomore Kaira Ramon (Stamford, Conn.) had an RBI triple, and senior Kamryn Beach (Tampa. Fla.) and junior Samantha Sabor each had two hits for the Purple Knights.
In the pitching circle, Junior Ashley Eisnor (Medford, Mass.) earned the win hurling a complete game in which she allowed only two earned runs and fanned six batters.
After a day off on Sunday, the UB softball team returns to the diamond on Monday in Florida facing Lake Erie and LeMoyne.
