Brookville, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport softball team saw its 2018 season come to a close in heartbreaking fashion on Friday afternoon in the East Coast Conference Championship Tournament, as Molloy's Brianna Dalton hit a walk-off grand slam with one-out in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Lions a 6-2 win in an elimination game. UB close out 2018 at 25-25, and Molloy moves on in the tournament with a 28-24 mark.
Trailing 2-0, the Purple Knights came back to score one run in the sixth inning on a sacrifice fly by senior Kamryn Beach (Tampa, Fla.) and tie the contest at 2-2 on a seventh inning home run by junior Stephanie Dean (Old Lyme, Conn.).
Sophomore Samantha Sabor (Plainfield, Ill.) went 2-for-3 at the plate for UB on Friday.
